Carolyn King: Founder & Teaching Artist

      Hello and welcome! I am an image-maker, a teaching-artist, a Mom and a committed bi-cultural world citizen. Currently living in the Sonoran Desert community of Tucson, Arizona, I was born and raised in  the midwestern city of Chicago. I have been blessed by a life filled with travel thanks to my inspiring and supportive parents. As a younger woman, travels brought me to Belgium, through Italy, Greece, France and other European countries. At age 19, I landed in Central Mexico where I ended up 'coming of age' and eventually living for over 20 years in one of Unesco's World Heritage Cities, San Miguel de Allende. .As a teaching-artist, I have had the privilege of supporting student-artists ages 3-93 on both sides of the border for over 4 decades now.. This work is based on a deep belief and commitment to the idea that 'Creativity is a Birth-right. ' Every single one of us, all over the planet, of all ages and abilities  have a well-spring of creativity within us.  My role as a teaching-artist has been to mid-wife that creative vision for those who are called to the path of the visual arts. .As far as credentials go, I have a BFA from The School of the Chicago Art Institute and an M.A. in Arts & Consciousness from John F. Kennedy University.  The focus of the M.A. degree was Arts & Healing.  My own studio practice and my teaching work have been grounded in this perspective for the 40 years I have been graced to be walking the Artist's Pat
